A Libertarian Legitimacy for Mandatory Covid-19 Vaccination

Since its inception, the 2019 coronavirus disease (Covid-19) outbreak has become a major health problem. At same time, countries worldwide have been waiting for Covid-19 vaccine to be sufficiently available. When became available, several began adopt mandatory vaccination policies. However, received strong opposition from start. Rejections emerged various parties, including libertarians. The researcher observes that current research attempting analyze still revolves around perspective of human rights and utilitarianism. Then, this study aims explore find out how libertarian toward vaccination. Normative methods with conceptual comparative approaches were used in study. After analyzing secondary data sources prescriptive analysis methods, finally succeeded finding place, legitimacy, justification on ideological side libertarianism. It is because libertarians accept government may require program against Covid-19. In addition, due framework, justified enforcing coercive policies violate certain individuals if policy necessary avoid greater harm others.
